What is a blog (shortened form of “weblog”)?
Simply, a blog is, “An online journal or informational website displaying information in reverse chronological order, with the latest posts appearing first. It is a platform where a writer, or even a group of writers, share their views on a specific subject.”
Blogging is the last thing I imagined I would be doing. I’ve read blogs. I’ve had friends create blogs. I’ve interacted and been ecstatic for their blogs, saying things like, “Go head y’all! Do ya thing!”. However, I would think to myself, that could never be me. How could I come up with posts? What would I talk about? Where could I find the time?
I work a nine to five: I am a real estate agent, a spoken-word artist, a praise dancer, a wife, a mother to five very active children in multiple extracurricular activities. I wear a host of other hats. When would there be time to blog?
However, I also thought to myself, that could never be me. How could I come up with posts? What would I talk about? Where could I find the time? I work a nine to five, I am a real estate agent, a spoken word artist, a praised dancer, a wife, a mother to five, wear a host of other hats, and have five children very active in extracurricular activities. Where would there be time to blog?
But then, I wrote and published a book. My book, Rise, will be available for pre-order August 19, 2020 and available everywhere October 24, 2020. I realized that, if I could find time to write a book to encourage others, I could find time to write blog posts toward the same purpose.
The journey I traveled while writing Rise helped me blossom into the woman I am and that I continue to become. I am happier than ever and very at peace with my life. I accept that blogging is the next step on my creative journey; it’s a way for me to share my thoughts (thoughts I would sometimes put into a journal) with the world.
Writing, blogging, and online journaling will allow me to help others while also helping myself — help myself to rise from dark places, rise from the ashes and rise to the occasion. I want to keep improving while helping others along the way. My biggest desire is to leave this world better than I entered it, hopefully creating a better place for my children.
Through this blog – It’s Time to Rise – I look forward to meeting and reaching people from all walks of life, all races and nationalities. I hope to create a space where we can share our experiences (via comments).
There may be times when I’ll need to take a break from blogging due to my busy life, so bear with me. After all, this is meant to be fun and not a chore. I will be as authentic and transparent as possible. I am excited about what’s in store for me as I begin this adventure.
Writing my book Rise and now creating this blog, have manifested my desire to become the person I was destined to be and fulfill my purpose.
When is it your time to rise?
It starts with you.
Be who and what you want to receive.
I love you.
It’s Time to Rise!
