First Things First; Write Your Book

Ready to take the plunge and become a published author? Before you can get to publish, there’s one important step that must come first: Writing it. Sounds Daunting? It shouldn’t be.

Well, it is no easy feat but then it is not mission impossible either. With some dedication and focus, you can turn your story into a finished manuscript ready for publishing easily.

When writing your manuscript, don’t wait or procrastinate. Start writing today or as soon as you have your ideas flowing and get ready to make your dream of becoming an author come true!

What should you prepare before writing your book?

Before you write a book, it is important to make sure that you have the necessary tools and resources to make the writing process efficient and successful. Why? Because planning ahead can help ensure that your work turns out exactly as you envisioned it.

Step 1

Create a writing plan or outline of what you hope to accomplish with your book. Who are you writing it for and what would you like the book to accomplish in their lives.

Step 2

Decide on the topic, structure, and length of your book before diving into the creative process. What will be the main point driven home? How many chapters do you want to include? How will the chapters flow together logically to form a cohesive whole. Researching potential topics can also be beneficial in enriching the content of your book.

Step 3

Familiarize yourself with applicable style guides and formatting requirements for your publishing platform or publisher in order to adhere to their standards. If you are self-publishing, consider what your readers expect to see by looking at other books in your genre. This will help save time and effort during the formatting process later on.

Step 4

Take some time to plan on how you will flesh out any characters or settings that will appear in your book, as this can add depth and realism to your work. In terms of non-fiction books consider what life experiences you want to include as well as your takeaways.

Stap 5

Set up a place where you can write uninterruptedly without distractions from family members or electronic devices. It’s always better to start with a clean slate, so try clearing any clutter from your workspace before getting started.

Step 6

Collect all the appropriate tools for writing you have decided to use. Is it computers, tablets, notebooks, or pens? Use whatever works best for you!

Following these steps should put you in good stead as an author ready to begin their journey towards publication!

Writing the book.

With the above process followed, the rest should become easy. Writing does become an overwhelming task when you try to approach it unprepared.

Writing the book is not about having your pen and paper and starting jotting, ask yourself the following questions

  • Have you decided when you will be writing?
  • Have you set a realistic goal about your writing timeline?

It is important to have an organized plan for when and how you will write.

You also need to set realistic goals for yourself and break down the writing process into manageable steps. For example, setting a daily word count goal that is achievable. This will help keep you on track with your progress, as well as motivate you to reach your desired outcome.

Having a timeline that outlines when each chapter or section of the book should be completed will help you keep on track of your plan.

Once you have established a general plan for your writing process, it’s time to get started!

Deep in the writing groove

The best way to proceed is when you have established a daily routine that becomes part of your natural habit.

When beginning the actual writing process, establish an overarching theme or argument before constructing each chapter or section of the book. Doing this ensures that all parts of the book contribute towards supporting one general idea and adds cohesiveness between chapters. You should also use facts and examples throughout your text in order to bring more depth and richness to your work, as well as demonstrate credibility in what you are discussing.

Don’t also forget that dialogue between characters can also help add life and interest to any given scene!

Recap.

Here’s your summary to writing your book

1. Establish a clear goal for your book (the main point you want to convey and to whom)
